Stallan was inspired by one of his favourite animals from the sea, the orca, or killer whale. There have been many sightings of them around the Scottish coastline which he feel links this amazing mammal to the project. The image depicts one breaching the water in an incredible display of power and beauty.
Stallan loves to use nature and popular culture as themes for most of his work. He really enjoys doing large scale pieces, whether it be a mural or making layered woodcut sculptures. Stallan has a fine art background, graduating from Gray’s School of Art specialising in portrait work. Since then he has focused on learning different styles to improve and evolve his work, recently focusing on a more illustrative style using both physical and digital mediums.
